Classroom Activity on Coping Strategies and Health

The following research article is available to the public and demonstrates how to administer and score the Coping Strategies Inventory Short Form

Addison C, Jenkins B, White M. User Manual for Coping Strategies Inventory Short Form (CSI-SF)-The Jackson Heart Study. Int J Environ Res Public Health. 2024 Apr 4;21(4):443. doi: 10.3390/ijerph21040443. PMID: 38673353;      PMCID: PMC11050153.

Ask students to complete the survey. Have a class discussion on the possible relationship between coping and health. Create an informal investigation in which students give this survey to ten of their friends and record the      number of illnesses they reported experiencing in the previous 6 months. Have them turn in the data; the instructor can analyze the correlation in class and report to students for further discussion.
