Alderman and Beyeler (2008) provide a step-by-step method for teaching motivation theories to educational psychology students. They created an assignment labeled the "motivational toolbox" that requires each student to create their own motivation toolbox and then see if they might use this as a teaching tool once they become teachers themselves.
